The Body Silk Seamless Nursing Bra (x2)

This is our best selling bra because it has such a large range of sizes that it fits, that means that it will fit from pregnancy through to extended feeding. The cups stretch is fantastic and accommodates the yo-yoing that happens to your breasts in the first few months of feeding - when you are bigger in the morning than can go down 2 cup sizes by the evening.

 

To determine which size you should buy measure yourself by taking a measurement underneath your bust across your ribs. Next measure across your bust at your nipples. Measure with your clothes on, but nothing too bulky. The cup size you require is found by taking away the smaller measurement from the larger one. Each inch you deduct is equal to 1 cup size. For example if you measure 36 inches under your bust and 40 inches across your bust your cup size is D (40-36=4, D is the 4th letter of the alphabet). Your bra size is 34D.

Lansinoh HPA® Lanolin Nipple Cream 40g Tube

In my opinion Lansinoh is the best thing on the market to help prevent and heal sore nipples.  With my daughter I was unfortunate enough to experience sore nipples for the first few days of breastfeeding so was determined to avoid a similar experience with my son, thankfully Lansinoh was around then and the advice on preventing sore nipples had changed.  Lansinoh is pure lanolin or sheep fat that has been completely striped of any impurities so that is is perfectly safe to leave on and therefore not necessary to wash off prior to feeding. Lansinoh works by a process called moist wound healing. Any cracks in the skin are healed from the inisde out thereby preventing a scab from forming.  You can read more about the product on the Lansinoh web site but trust me when I say that many women swear by it and have been able to continue breastfeeding because of it. 

 

Make sure you get support in positioning your baby at the breast correctly as poor positioning is a major contributor in developing sore nipples. Ask yourmidwife of find a breast feeding counsellor on Born Together

 

Is also terrific for scratchs, cuts, cracked skin and sore lips.

Mama's Nursing Support Tea 65g

This tea will help support breastfeeding mothers. The herbs used are nutritional, full of vitamins and minerals. The tea helps increase wellbeing of the mother and help ensure a good healthy flow of breast milk. Use around half a teaspoon per mug.

Ingredients: Loose Organic or wild-crafted Raspberry Leaf, Borage, Blessed Thistle, Fenugreek, Nettle

The Original Nursing Bra

The important thing to remember when ascertaining the size of Bravado Bra to buy is that the sizing is literal, unlike other bras you DO NOT add on inches to determine your rib size.

I was first introduced to the Original Bravado bra when I was pregnant. My Active Birth teacher Dominique Ker was breastfeeding her third child and said that the Bravado bra was the best bra she had used. At the time there were no shops selling the Original Bravado bra and few places to get them mail order, so I didn't actually get one until my daughter was a few months old, by which time I'd tried the other bras available from high street shops. Wearing the Original Bravado bra was bliss after irritating lace bras and ones which had zips that caught my skin when I wanted to do them up. The Essential Nursing Bra Tank

The Bravado nursing tank is more than just a feeding top. It's something that a lot of our new mums live if for the first few weeks after having a baby. Wear it with pyjama bottoms for night time, under your clothes when it is cold and because you don't need to have another bra underneath it's great for the summer.  The bra has a drop down cup so that you don't expose your belly when feeding.
